I have been an ad writer for 20 years. Half way thru that stretch, I met Karl, and he promptly blew my mind about what Art Directors were capable of. Our first project was a series of spec ads for a pitch, and those ads are still in my portfolio, a decade later. If there is one word that I would use to describe Karl, it is this: "surprising." Just when I think I know about what to expect, he comes back with some sort of non-linear awesomeness that surprises and delights. And I don't use the word "delight" lightly. But to you grizzled marketing execs and ad misfits, you know when you see something that makes you giggle. On projects where we have teamed together, Karl has delivered the goods, delivered that giggle, so many times that I just expect that from him now. Which sucks for him, because he set perhaps too high a bar. If I could command you to hire him, I would. But only if it doesn't jack up me working with him.
